January 23

A NEIGHBOUR who is proud of his Irish family roots came round to visit one afternoodn and, as is his custom each time he leaves, recited to us this Irish toast:
May there always be work for your hands to do,
May your purse always hold a coin or two;
May the sun always shine on you window pane,
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain;
May the hand of a friend always be near you,
Their hearts full of warmth and gladness to cheer you.
Words for all of us to keep in mind.
